I think they should open it as many manufacturers as want to take part.
I would limit the teams to one tyre change and one refuel per race - should get them racing on track a bit more and encourage new tyre technology. (slicks btw) |

I would like to see a completely new tyre supplier in F1, and the return of slick racing tyres, I don't care for these grooved things at all...Bring back Goodyear! then no on team will be excused of having any type of an advantage.
But I also like that idea too Johntt! Last edited by JeremySmith; 13 Oct 2007 at 17:08. |

With tire war, we would have either McLaren or Ferrari winning all races, provided they'd have been on different manufacturers. Now, at least they split the races between the two teams.

Funny how the year where tyre changes were banned was far more compelling on an individual race basis.
Of course, it was completely coincidental that Ferrari got squished. And also coincidental that the rules changed back straightaway. Totally coincidental. |

I remember Montezuma ranting on about this endlessly,"It's become a tyre championship" he would say, like it wasn't before then.Mind you,he was also ranting on about the same thing last season. You just can't please some people! |

He never seemed to complain about it being a tyre championship after Ferrari got the rules changed in late 2003 to screw Michelin teams and their 2004 car design programmes and therefore steamroller the title race, did he?
Funny that. |

Slicks would be good from a visual perspective. I think this two tyre type rule is a little silly though. Having the one set for the whole race would seem more sensible if there has to be some sort of rule to make tyres interesting.
Then we could always force the cars to lose 1 turn of downforce for each lap they lead. That would be interesting... but I digress |

Make them run on the same tyres in the wet and the dry. That would generate some genuine tyre benefit for the ordinary motorist. And if they need a tyre change during a race make the driver do it.

I enjoyed seeing the teams try and make one set of tyres last, but they'd got on top of it by the end of the season, and it rarely affected the races after Nurburgring.

Tyre wear at this weekends Brazilian GP should prove to be fairly interesting. |

How about this, the Option tire is the grooved one, and the Standard tire is the slick. Both the same compound.

Given that a slick has more contact with the track so more grip. You get the extra grip for one stint and then get stuck on grooves for the rest. |
