Alex Zanardi is probably one of the most remarkable guys this sport's ever seen. He has an incredible strength of character that no matter what's thrown at him, he always siezes the positive elements and brings them to the fore. In my mind he has achieved more than any other personality in motorsport... and 7-times Michael Schumacher is of the same opinion.

He'll probably finish the marathon and probably do it within 2 hours as well... and push the benchmark yet further shaming all those of us more fortunate than him. Forza Ale !!

Lightning Bug should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Bearing in mind his WTCC form, he'll probably hit three or four other competitors and get a 10-place grid penalty for the next marathon!

Zanardi is an example to us all that you can do anything if you set your mind to it.

He puts the vast majority of people to shame and most people have the legs they were born with.

I just decided to follow up on this to see how he did. He finished the marathon in 4th place in handcycle category in a time of 1h33m... well within his 2 hour target. A stupendous achievement from a truely amazing individual.

That is an average speed of just over 27km/h.
That is bloody quick IMO.
