Who won the awards for the rest of the GP's?
In fairness, I read this today in Autosport and I was at a loss to understand it's point. ITV didn't present that GP any differently or better than the other ones. Odd. |

But they did "present" us with Lewis's first victory. Most sports coverage in this country is just a showcase for foreign success and the abject failure of British competitors, so ITV win by default for showing something that a Brit actually managed to win.

I think they deserved the award. I enjoy the pre show on ITV before the race. As you all know sometimes the pre show can be more enjoyable than the race itself .Martins grid walk is entertaining too and has proved to be a winner dew to the fact that coverage of other motor sports have included there grid walks.

Even the very dullest of GP can be deemed hysterically entertaining compared to the insulting and tedious tripe served to us pre-race by the TV network that specialises in not knowing what it is doing. |

Indy 2005 was arguably ITV's finest hour...then again watching coverage of most races from back then seems an oasis of impartiality (apart from Too-Slow Tony Jardine's biased prejudices) compared to the gutter-tabloid flag-waving jingoistic tripe the coverage became from 2006 onwards.
I think Brundle's gridwalks have become a bit stale; he generally gets ignored by most drivers these days and only talks to the "celebrities" getting in the way on the grid. Sometimes ITV will out-of-the-blue serve up an interesting pre race feature but far too often it is just cut-and-shut PR-event footage of little interest to anyone. It seems to me the BAFTA sports award is simply given to whoever happened to be the UK broadcaster for the major British sporting success of the previous year - remember ITV actually apologised on their website at the time for cutting the post-race coverage short for what turned out to be an "award-winning" broadcast!!! |

Up until James Allen started speaking, I thought ITV's coverage for qually today was actually rather good. No rubbish pre-race features and plenty of relevant interviews. And they showed GP2 on ITV4. What on Earth is going on?! Guilt for winning the BAFTA for that race coverage?

My jaw dropped when James Allen sneeringly suggested that Spanish TV was biased towards Alonso.

I thought ITV's GP2 coverage was pretty amateurish today, particularly post-race, although it was better than their awful highlights package they used to do with those execrable scripted James Allen commentaries.
ITVs Qually coverage though was reasonable, perhaps with Lewis drifting somewhat this year and with them losing the coverage for next year they're not so desperate for ratings and are becoming slightly more impartial. |

The GP2 coverage was dreadful - the commentators didn't have a clue who any of the drivers were, who was that woman presenting it and how did somebody so talentless get a job with ITV?
But anyway, this is the F1 forum...I missed ITV's pre-qualifying show today. I found it didn't diminish my enjoyment of the event itself at all. |

ITV win a BAFTA and the question is "What for?" The coverage is poor and everyone blames ITV!
For the race itself, only really James Allen and Martin Brundle can make much of a difference to the coverage, and I believe most people actually appreciate Martin, so perhaps ITV deserved their nomination? |

Of course people blame ITV, there input adds nothing. It even detracts. One artin does not out weight one Allen (let alone the other two). That is just the race coverage. Then there is the pre race coverage...
