Do think if the v8 series was not contractually restrained from running there for the last decade that this might be different.
Yes, I'm sure that it would be improved if the v8 supercars ran there, but it would still need someone to pump some serious money in to it now to bring it up to scratch. I don't think a race held at Mallala would be anywhere near as sucessfull as the Clipsal 500. Nothing will change the fact that the circuit is to far for a decent crowed to want to travel. I've been there lots of times, I enjoy watching the Australian Superbike Championship there and being able to walk through the pits and meet the riders but nothing will change the fact that it is in a country town, well away from Adelaide, without decent transport to there.

Great! I'm originally from Adelaide and have driven/riden on the track. The view of it from a motorcycle was not a great one!

Sooooo in summary, the street race has done nothing beneficial for the permanent circuit in South Australia.

Yes, agreed.

But my point is more that the perminant circuit is not really in a position to hold the event and be beniffited anyway (not without massive upgrades to both the circuit itself and the infra structure around it). It also won't be holding it due to the obvious advantages of the Clipsal 500 track.

What's with this continual BS that a track 'cannot hold a V8 race'? Where did this crap start coming from?

A race track is a race track - NO race track should be designed and/or built to suit a particular style of racing car. The cars need to get over this 'change the track because we can;t race on it' - if this is the case, then either:

a) change the car so they CAN race on ANY track
or
b) Change your driving styles to suit the track.

It's about time all categories started to accept what they are given - because if they don;t they are soon going to either have to eat very large chunks of humble pie or simply have nowhere left to race.

i dont think anyone is saying that the cars cant race there, what they are saying is the circuit lacks the facilities to hold a v8 race there, it doesnt have the infrastructure to hold the v8 series. the series has grown but the track didnt keep up. Sat in the car park and did not move for over two hours trying to get out

Drifting. That's what it needs.

Like the way the thread has drifted away from young talent & categories.

But I do agree with NewsStalkers last comment.

Even much of that is opinion and not fact. The line that ' the circuit is not up to standard' has been trotted out over the years for every circuit by VESA. However when someone kicks the tin with an increased sanction or sponsorship, say for example VB and Wanneroo a few years ago, they quiet down for a little while.

They didnt quiet down at all, they said you kick some money into the track (which they did) and we will stay for a while, which they have.

But as mentioned this is not a thread on tracks because V8SA is not killing tracks, No track has closed because of v8 supercars.

and as far as i can see its not killing catagories orsuffocating young talent
