Fine. We can agree to disagree, if you like. Yes he did stuff up when he selected 3rd gear instead of first, thus frying his clutch and ending Tander's Bathurst and ch/ship chances. And, as stated, a young and fit Frosty also made a mistake at Bathurst last year... ending FPR's Bathurst title hopes. These things happen.

To blame HRT's reliability issues on Skaife is a bit sad. Don't forget, when Mr Grech was there, HRT's reliability was legendary. The team had let itself down on a number of occasions with poor pit calls when in a position to win races over their SBR rivals with Ambrose at the helm... but HRT faltered time and time again. You can't say Skaife makes all the calls... not even from the driver's seat.

The bad luck is brought on himself some of the time by his inability to get off the line, rather than get out in front and pace himself.
Seems like he gets himself frustrated by his shocking starts and this leads to some of his dramas.
For someone with his experience he would have to be one of the worst starters that i can remember.

Then again, would you also want JC to partner you, if you were Tander?

Both Skaife and Tander might have to be content with 'second string' co-drivers.

let see the guy who has crashed out of the last two bathursts or the guy who has finished on the podium at the last two bathursts. i think i know which of the two i would pick

Frosty and BPB wouldnt rate as highly for mine. BPB has done OK at bathurst in the past, but I just don't see him as an outright winner on pace and consistency. Frosty would go OK though.

All three pairings mentioned would be in the top 3 for honours though.

Hi FJ - dont think anything of this by me picking your post its just an in to the discussion - but it seems to me that this whole MS thing revolves around MS (and whomever) being capable of winning Bathurst - correct?. Im not particularly moved by any press whatever on any driver and Im not a Holden (GM) fan but discount MS at your peril - if its Bathurst in particular then MS is definitely in the mix for a win - if its the championship I think he's still getting rid of the demons that whole TW thing brought him when he (MS) owned the team - I dont think he's recovered from that - however the guy can still drive the wheels off a car - I dont believe he's in the mix for this years championship however. Im a blue oval fan but even I say give MS a break guys

I would have thought a man with that much talent would know to start in 1st gear rather than 3rd and fry the clutch?
