They do know the difference between boring/exciting sport and cheap/expensive entertainment though.

The demands of a good race car and road car are far enough apart that production racing has become hard. A manufacturer would (reasonably) much rather make a car that has good nvh, comfort and an engine suitable for street driving rather than make cars designed for racing. You can get away with production motorcycle racing because people in the market for a sports bike will put up with something that makes it's power at high rpm and has race ergonomics.

you totally missed my points..

Point one was for the likes of cattach to get his head out of his arse and into the general admission area to see and talk to the real supporters of the series to find out what they like and dislike......rather than hanging around the pits wity the corporate dollar because they generally have no idea...for them its a free day out.

My other point was as suggested by Cattach that the series would be better if the cars were just basically V8 "Aussie Racers"....I think thats bull****. Some of use supports like that we drive a cars that looks like the car the won the previous round.

NASCAR and F1 work where you have 300 million people oe more to play to..

we have 21 million.....sometimes you need to get back to basics.
