Well Steve, considering the excellent feedback i've had on here so far I think it was well worth it.
However i'm also exploring club circuit activity as well to cover the bases. |

Out of interest going further back the March 85B that Jon Toulmin ran in Sprints in the late eighties/early nineties was delivered to Belgium this afternoon after languishing in his garage in Stratford Upon Avon for many years. This was the first F3000 Championship winning car in 1985 driven by Christian Danner. Missed off your list is the John Hanline Lola 91/50 Mugen that Damon Milnes has up for sale. Proper F3000 spec car that runs and is sitting in Stoke On Trent. |

I think Rich alludes to it. Mark Lawrence's Reynard 90D Mugen. Bought for sprinting late 1999 but never seen.

I always thought it held Grover back, he always seemed to be either forcing it to do something it couldn't or sorting out a new handling characteristic it would suddenly develop mid corner.
Never saw it in the hands of anybody else mind. |

For my sins I worked on the Atol Judd late in its build programme once all the design had been sorted by Keith with input from others . It was drawn up by Keith and even though me and him fell out later on over personal issues I have the upmost respect for the guy who sat down with a car and sheets of paper and re jigged a F3000 car into something that would be better suited to Hillclimbs and to some extent sprints , One issue that nobody realised was that both Keith and Amanda drove this car as a shared unit and neither of them was anywhere near their optimum driving position . Some of the design ideas were sound engineering sense , having smaller front tyres in circumference than standard and idea to try and get them to heat up quicker as they would have to do more work per square inch of tyre , the fact that meant lowering all the pick up points on the tub . lowering the steering rack was a knock on effect that caused Kieth discomfort as his shins were very close to the rack itself , if he could of been further back it would of been better , but as the steering column was also a compromise for the two of them it compounded the problem .
I also have a small amount of knowledge of John Garnett's and Carl Amos's cars as I prepared Richard Hargreaves car who lives near Giggleswick and the other 2 lived about 3 miles away in Rathmell , Thinking about it I have been around a bit , and would love to get back into preparing a car for someone local to me , just for the fun of it really as after coming out of running cars full time I am now a assistant service manager at a ford dealership . Andy Priaulx tested it for Keith at curbourough a few days after he won the hillclimb title , David Gould was present at the test and had some input into moving development forward but as sometimes happens other things took over and Keith and Amanda were very busy developing their bussiness , Atol Racking , and Versatile Construction , so development time was short . I belive in Horses for courses F3000 cars are not suite dto narrow Uk hillcimbs ok for EEC events with wider roads 4-10 km races
F3000 car is ok for sprinting but the uk hillclimbing does not suit the wider heavier chassis hence why Gould etc utilise the F3 size tub and fit narrow track suspension with F1 engine gearboxex Rod eyles took a lola 91 and cut n shut the suspension to go sprinting and hillclimbing but it needed time and $ thrown at it to get to it working better |

Indeed they do still have both and I have seen them in the past few weeks. Doug was telling me that the DFR engined car is the chassis in which Alan McNish had that rather nasty accident at Donington. Nick. |

I would think that tub is pretty screwed, it had a big effect on Allan as he was in a coma for several days and I think it took the "edge" off his driving that he never clawed back. I have seen the shunt and it is not pleasent viewing.

Hmmm, Allan showed great courage and determination when he recovered quickly and won the next round at Silverstone IIRC and was in the hunt for the title for most of the season.
