bondibill should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
To quote another web site: "Villeneuve is now something of a legend for the way he manages to move up the grid on race starts: it's a rare day that sees him fail to make at least a couple of places when the lights go out. However, the very consistency with which he gets away is making the competition suspicious that he could have mechanical assistance. Enough so, that both the teams who approached the scrutineers are examining TV footage of this year's race starts to try and establish whether the starts are "too perfect" to be man made."

I must admit to being suspicious of this myself watching the last couple of races. When was the last time JV lost a place at the start?

On Daily F1, he is quoted as saying " I don't know, and I don't want to know." If BAR is up to something, they left it off Zonta's car.

Maybe they should put it on zonta's car..he seems to need all the help he can get at the moment.

im not sure about this and honestly havent taken much notice of how many spots he gains ..but I will from now on..sure as Brett states he is the best driver ...well one of them anyway and that does count for something but if the FIA think there is something going on Im sure they will spend $20 million to try and find out only to come to the conclusion that they are not sure because they dont understand the technical stuff

Villeneuve's great starts?. Is it hard work or a bit of luck?. I say both. Starts were not one of Villeneuve's strong points when he entered F1 so I think that he has made an effort to improve. It's just beginning to pay off.

Anyone remember in '97 when Coulthard was consistently having lightening starts? He too said he didn't know how he did it..

JV's starts have made the races worth watching again for me lately.. if they continue to improve that car I think he'll be by far the best of the rest behind the (increasingly dull) McLaren/Ferrari domination

JV's starts are good in that they bunch up the field behind him, but they are bad in that if a fast car gets stuck behind him, we may disapointed of a battle for the lead.

Ricardo has had a number fo good starts this year too, but he is always starting so far back on the grid that he usually doesn't do anything that would make the highlights.

I think BAR just have a really good clutch this year. I do also know that JV did A LOT of practice starts during the off-season, maybe it is paying off.

He is probably so fired up as he knows the start will be his only chance to get him up to where a driver of his skill should be. Just a pity about the car.

Somehow I feel JV is the sort that if it was due to an illegal gizmo he wouldn't want it.

Sure. It's hard to imagine BAR spending all their money in a device for starts and forgeting all the other stuff.
JV's talent is the device they have...

At least it isn't the 'Schumacher Chop'...

Precisely. The guy is simply a great starter. Ditto Alesi. Together they are the best starters in the business.

Valve Bounce has been held in scrutiny for further testing
Could it be because the cars at teh front are too busy cutting each other off, zig zagging, so that Jacques manages to get a decent run? Having said that, I am also amazed at his luck at starts, not that I mind. I just hope he finishes on the podium soon.

Do they do that?

Seriously, JV's starts do make for an interesting race - at least in the early stages. I know it doesn't do much good that if, like at Monaco (not that it was JV), Schumacher or someone is able to run away with the race, but on the whole, it's fascinating to see the drivers in quicker cars (note that I didn't say 'quicker drivers') trying to get ahead of him.

At least we know we have one thing to look forward to at every Grand Prix. Well, come on: it's not as if DC is gonna give Scum the finger at every race, now, is it?

And yes, it would be really great for JV and, dare I say, the BAR team if he could indeed get onto the podium at some point in the near future. It may stop all those rumours flying around for at least a week or two...
