I don't think it was been brought up elsewhere, but personally a very special touch was at the podium presentation.
As has been the case for a while now, the crowd start belting out "LOWNDSIE, LOWNDSIE, LOWNDSIE", but that soon died down and started up with an even louder "WHINCUP, WHINCUP, WHINCUP".... top stuff! |

Lucky Giovanardi didn't win then. That would have tested the masses!
They could have always called in the clown who introduced Fabrizio for a lesson.... |

How did Besnard's lap times compare to Courtney's?
Fast enough to be considered for the #4 seat next year? |

Drivers do drive different in a 1000k race than they do in a 14 lap sprint, the increase in safety cars would not be noticed Last edited by Woolley; 15 Oct 2008 at 12:39. Reason: Strewth. The autocensor is there for a reason. Please do not avoid it. |

Maybe the answer is to not have all the Fujitsu cars, but rather a select number of Fujitsu cars.

But if Bathurst is a round of the Fujitsu Series, you will have issues with it being a championship round for them and the cost of converting the cars to enduro spec...
Why not open it up to additional entries from the level 1 ranks? |

The other problem with more cars is drivers are required.
Currently many of the top dev series drivers are driving for main game teams. Assume we have the current best 10 drivers from the dev series driving in the current field - they will drive their own cars, which will mean we get the 11-20 top best drivers in the current series cars. So the dev series teams will need drivers too so we end up with all the dev series guys in the main race. These are young drivers do we need them in the main series they would be more susceptible to mistakes and we could end up with more safety cars. Of course old drivers crash (shout out to ya Skaifey) and make mistakes (shout out to ya Garf) so maybe it wouldn't be too bad. |

Some of the gun full time drivers weren't that flash nor that impressive in my humble opinion.
One wonders where the Seton/Baird combination would have finished if Baird hadn't buried into the wall. Seton, Besnard, Barg's, Maxi Wilson, Brad Jones or put in pretty good drives for weekend warriors. Why didn't John Bowe get a gig? |

As a side story to the big race...
My niece's husband (whatever relation that is to me) arrived at Bathurst early Friday morning and took up his normal spot for the weekend. A couple of hours later he got a phone call telling him his wife had gone into labour (10 weeks premature) and had been taken to hospital. Obviously he packed up and raced home immediately and arrived just in time to see his new son being born. I spoke to him tonight and asked him about his new pride and joy. He said that "He's a top little bloke even if he did stuff up Bathurst!" Congratulations to Melanie, David and new baby ...... SETON. Mother and son are both doing well. |

Well that's blown it for your relative. He won't be able to go to at least the next 5 Bathursts "as it will be Seton's birthday party on that weekend and you can't go........"

How's this- I lob into JB Hi-Fi on Friday, and what is on the shelf? The 2008 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 highlights tape! Two hours long, at about the same old standard for recent V8 highlights tapes...
What a blow out- within 5 days of the race, the DVD is on the shelves- kudos to those involved! |

The way the story went, the squad allegedly in question, had only a single spare engine at Phillip Island.. which was the same one for Bathurst... .. that this was recognised when the lead car had engine issues at each event.. and where normal practice at WP/SBR/888 would have been to simply throw in a new one... it wasnt possible.. as the spare was not the same. Running on the smell of an old Castrol oily rag? Or taking bets to see if they are showing up next year? |
