rychard has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
.... and I was told Mexico would not happen without Brazil & vice-versa. It's a cost sharing matter. Maybe it extends to the entire American continent?

Who was the last ChampCar winner again overthere? :P

The a1gpfanzone forum is full of 13 year olds who write dribble and have zero understanding of motorsport. Apart from you RichardR.

I'll try to post a better link when I find one.

Mont T is hardly an iconic venue like Montreal is. Not sure about the logic of holding a race there at short notice.

Mexico to be this season's final race, subject to them butchering the final corner in time.

A bit surprised that they are going over there for one round only, I guess the Mexicans must be stumping up a reasonable fee.

Butchering the final corner like that seems a bit over the top.

Why worry about a corner?
Series seems intent on butchering itself!

They could still win it there if they have excellent weekends at Algarve and Brands - you never know.

I, for one, am happy to see an 8th race - I'd rather have 8 races and see the penultimate round than see 7 races (which is a pitiful number).

And I think not removing Mexico, one of their most popular rounds, is actually an act of "un-butchering" themselves - it would be much worse if Mexico was removed and tickets had to be refunded.

It is the FIA that insist on changing the corner in order to grant approval, not A1GP.

And if that's what it takes to race in Mexico and have 8 rounds, so be it.

But some teams will have problems finding a driver for the Mexico race, for instance Team Netherlands: Jeroen Bleekemolen will drive the Porsche Supercup in Monaco that day and Robert Doornbos will start in the Indy 500.

So we get Renger van der Zande instead He has matured in the last 2 years and is a Mercedes protegé ... not too shabby i'd say

He was quick in the rookie sessions he did. Do you know if he is still contracted to the team or could we get Dennis Retera racing?

Jan Lammers is still in the deciding stage at this moment, but Renger is available, that is for sure.

Also available would be Jos Verstappen (who knows), Carlo van Dam (did a demo for them in my hometown) and off course Dennis Retera.

"Meanwhile, in hard-hit Mexico, where more than 80 people have died from what is believed to be swine flu, the government closed all public schools and canceled hundreds of public events in Mexico City."

Looks like we might not be going to Mexico after all...

I've just said this in the Brands thread, but my information was that Mexico was at best a possibility and this 'flu epidemic, which they're saying might well become a pandemic, has knocked the idea on the head completely.

i'd be directing the sarcasm at the countries in absolute panic about a mild flu that hasn't killed anyone outside of mexico, rather than the country that has suffered deaths as a result of it...

back on topic and i'd be surprised if the mexico round happened. if they have to have a final round i see it being a lastminute thing somewhere in europe (or even the uk to save shipping costs). but that would rely on there being a larger budget than £2.65 and a half eaten tube of pringles :/

It seems Strider was quite right, and that Mexico wasn't really a goer finanically:

Teixeira: “The fact is that Mexico is a great fan base for us but, as a race, at the moment it costs us money. So Britain is the ideal place to finish off a season which has seen great racing but, frankly, was a bit disappointing."

Sauce: http://www.britsonpole.com/a1gp-on-a...aster-post8908

Good to see Teixeira being honest about the fact that is has been a disappointing season, but bizarre decision making to re-schedule Mexico so late in the day in the middle of the economic pessimism. Instead of postponed because of the concert it should have just been cancelled there and then.
