Could be early 1987.

It could be... the Shell Ultra Hi branding only appeared on the DJR cars at that point....
There must be millions of photos like this out and about in the world... this one came from one of the 3 blokes in the shot... presumably a fan photo... |

At first glance i'd assume it was taken at the '86 AGP meeting, where the celebrity race was contested with Ford Telstar's
The race where Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler crashed at turn 1, coming out with a broken collarbone |

One of the best celebrity races i've seen was Toni Collete (aka Muriel) in a Calibra at the Adelaide GP don't know what year it was, but that car didn't have a straight panel on it when it finished.

Greg Norman's was sponsored by Peter Warren Ford at Fairfield NSW... and it used to sit pride of place on the lot for months, as people seemed to come in and take a look at it... to get some star rub off presumably

Must have been 86, as in the 'Holden Dealer Team' signwriting on the front of the pantech had been replaced with 'HDT Integrity - Buy Direct' by Lakeside 87. Pity they didn't bother to repaint the tatty Mobil signwriting why they were at it.

It has to be a Isuzu, the 'is' in the shot is too far left to be Mitsubishi
Have to say i have no clue who the other 2 people are. Recognized Norman tho |

Lillie is a famous Aussie Cricket player from a few years ago Norman has been known to hit golf balls but not win many games of late. Blackman is best known as the voice over guy on Hey Hey It's Saturday which makes him the voice of Dickie Knee and all the other classic characters on that show. |

"Money for Nothing and his drives for free". The commentators must have been saying "Where do you think you're going?" as he went "So far away" from the racing line... OK, I agree the jokes are a bit late now. |

Yes I was.
Blackman would've been in the field as a Ch9 person as Ch9 had the GP telecast in those days. |

If I remember correctly, Greg Norman had quite a bit of coaching from Nigel Mansell (contra for some golf tips).
My all time favourite celebrity race memory involves Gordon Elliott being unable to keep his Cordia off the wall. I think providing Gordon with cars for the event created a greater need for Cordia's than their advertising campaign |
