While I wouldn't necessarily call myself a Ford man (even if my first wheels were an XY and now I drive an F150 ), I think that is a pretty neat site.
Good tip on the HO road test AJ - that was a good read. |

Arh an XY.
Truely a car to aspire to. I owned one once, purple Fairmont with a white roof and interior. It doesn't get much better than that! |

Me too, an XY Fairmont wagon, I remember when i sold it it had NO brakes at all. It sure sounded good but, had aluminium headers and a twin 2 1/2 inch exhaust. Made my family size 6 cyl sound like a horny V8. Pity it didn't go that way. I hit 105 miles an hour and the car was feeling like it was all about to fall apart.Ha d some great times inn the rear of the wagon but
The girlfiends Mum offered to make me some curtains when she noticed the mattress in the back |

I thought I'd share this picture for those who don't know what the great car looks like.

My Dad had an XY GT replica with the full Phase III motor, it was a rocketship. It was also absolutely immaculate and won "best standard paint" and "best engine bay" trophies at Street Machine shows. I think I miss that car more than he does.

Personally I am more into 4 cyls. Not really one to get into the Holden V Ford debate. My dad was in Dick Johnson's pit crew many moons ago and since has always been a Ford man. Tried rubbing that onto me at a young age but I was more interested in the goings on of a car than the damn plastic badge.
The cars of today are all **** as far as I am concerened.Pre 85. Better still, pre 75 an you have a great era for cars. After this current Gemini rebuild (1 for race 1 for daily driving / show) the plans are to go and play with the big boys and their V8's. An XB or XT is the most likely choice for the V8 rebuild. Hmmmm I don't know. Decisions decisions. I am like a kid in a lolly store when I have choices. If only they made men like these classics and I would be one very happy lass |

And what will influence your choice between a XB or the earlier XT Falcon for the V8 rebuild?
I would love to grab an original XA GT. Mainly because they are not as popular as the earlier models, are more comfortable and cheaper. |

If I was to have the choice then i'd rather have a Holden Commodore to be honest.

The Holden Commodore has nothing on all the Falcons from the XK to the XC. Ford absolutely OWNED the Aussie muscle car industry with those models and produced some of the most legendary muscle cars of all time.
