New engine rule
From the Czech GP, a new engine rule will come into effect. Per rider five engines will be allowed to be used for the rest of the season. I was wondering if it will favour any of the manufacturers. I suspect Honda as they’ve always written the rules in the past and I suppose they have also done that with this rule.
I fear a bit for Ducati and Hyate. Ducati because their type of engine, which requires mechanical movement to open and close the valves and Hyate as they have not had any development since the start of the season. I know in the 999cc WSBK days of Ducati, certain components had to be changed between the two races on Sunday. I would expect something similar after a race in Motogp for the Ducati, as that thing revs like mad. The other thing I find surprising is that Honda have started using a new type of engine since the German GP. Would this already be the new type (long life) engine? You wouldn’t expect that. If this wasn’t the new long life engine, than this would mean Honda are still wacking loads of money into their motogp programme (which is good of course). Finally, will the satellite teams get the same engine as the factory teams from Brno onwards? |
