There are some new members who race and so I've re-started this topic. It will also give David a chance to post some pics of his Datto.
Come on folks even if you've posted this subject before, you may have changed cars or championships. We'd be pleased to hear from you all. If you don't know by now, I race a Capri 3.0s in the CSCC GB Group 1 Touring Car Championship. My old mate Yelwoci races a Mazda RX 7 in the same championship and David P races his Datsun 1600 in Australia. |

Good idea - as a new boy I have no idea what anyone else races or where....
I'm gonna be in Classic Thunder - I have purchased the ex-works Group 2 Rover SD1 - some of you may know the car , white , covered in red UNIPART decals , built and prepared by David Price Racing for the 1980 Tourist Trophy race , to be driven(and subsequently blown-up) by Jeff Allam and a very off the pace Tiff Needhelp . Anyway it doesn't have the original engine anymore so I'll be running in G4 with a 4500cc lump , probably rather slowly . |

You'll have some opposition. I know that a very competitive driver (Dennis Robinson) has purchased the ex Dennis Leech Group A Vitesse for exactly the same championship. |

I race my Datsun 1600 (Nissan 510) Historic Touring Car (Classic Saloon)in Queensland, Australia. It has the original L16 SOHC engine and 4 speed gearbox. The standard body is painted in Ford Monza Red and the 13x7 mags are wrapped in Yokoham Advan A032R treaded radial racing tyres. Would you like to see a picture?

sure david i dont believe ive seen a picture of it before
anyway here we go..im just a toy racer in many peoples eyes but hey its all i can afford and its alot of fun..i race karts mainly in southern NSW Australia..allthough this year Im not actually racing (due to a very empty wallet)..ive only done 1 full year of racing and finished fourth in the clubman light division..i use a Yamaha 100cc engine with an Aussie built Demon arrow AX6 chassis (same company I believe has something to do with Spectrum formula fords)..I run on slick Bridgestone tires and since last year wet treaded tires have been allowed..allthough Ive managed to avoid racing in the wet. and ive actually kept a detailed record of every race Ive been in wich makes good reading sometimes. Anyway heres a couple of pics for yas to have a laugh at my kart doesnt look like that anymore though ..it is all blue now with a lovely ten tenths sticker on the nosecone |

Where can I get a 10-10ths sticker for my kart?
I have a 1996 Margay shifter kart with a 125cc Yamaha engine in it. I haven't raced it yet, as I have to get some gear like a suit, gloves, helmet, etc. There are a few tracks in central Florida, so I hope to start racing soon. (I've heard that there is a kart race at Daytona International Speedway, so that might be something to try.) |

Currently I'm racing in the same category as Dave Paterson in the Historic Touring Cars in Australia base in Melbourne Aust.
The car that I'm racing is a Holden Torana XU1. Originally the car was an LC model(1971) but for some confounded reason the CAMS decided to change the regulations which meant either 1. a complete new engine going back to a 3048 cc engine or 2 an update of the body exterior option 1 was going to cost about $5.5k option 2 about $300 guess which one i decided to go for The car is now reslendant in its original colour of Linamint green (much like Kermit Frog green) runs 202 cu inch in line 6 cylinder +.030", 10.5: 1 comp, triple 45 mm webers , extractors, roller rockers, all the usual go fast parts 7 x 13 alloy wheels with yoko advan AO 32 R tyres. The car is a genuine LC XU1 and when this engine either wears out or goes bang the car will be converted back to its original specs. Indications are that instead of the 141 KW at the rear wheels, aprox 250 hp at flywheel, the 186 engine will probably get only about 10-15 HP less. I suppose that I'll just have to learn to brake later than the others. Have a pic in the hard drive ready to go. Will try and get a pic to you guys not sure how to use the ubb set up but if i email it to the forum are you able to attach it at your end/ |

I have been racing a yellow & red Capri in the CSCC Group One's. Unfortunately not this year, so far. Before this car I raced a Mk 1 Capri in Pre 74s & before that a Triumph 2000 Mk 1 in the Pre 65 championship.

Just to keep Pete happy!
I race a 1982 Series II Mazda RX7. It has a 12A bridgeport with about 260bhp at the flywheel. It has permission to run a Ford Type9 box with Quaife internals which has almost exactly the same size and ratios as the rare Mazda Comp unit, albeit with an iron case rather than alloy. In all other respects the cars configuration is similar to the standard card. For those of you familiar with the SCCA series, its more modified than Spec7s and is probably closer to ITB/C. I don't know how to imbedd piccies here! This is two years ago, I'll be getting new piccies soon.....including my Lydden incident!! http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homep...i/sstone98.jpg Fuller info at http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homep...ci/y_motor.htm IanC |

The pic which Yelwoci sent us to was, in fact, taken by Steve Jones. BTW Marcus. The other car at the back of that pic is a Vauxhall Firenza. Quote:
Will post some more pics of my car pre-Snetterton attacks in the near future. |
