Hydraulics
Hello all,
just a question. The hydraulics of the gearbox, as were a problem for Barrichello in the GP of Brasil, do these form a part of the engine or a part of the chassis? marshall |

To my knowledge, the hydraulic system uses a pump driven by the engine, much like the power steering system in your road car.
Paddles (i.e. switches) on the F1 car's steering wheel control solenoids. These solenoids, in turn, control the hydraulic pressure, which is used to operate mechanisms in the transmission - to change gears. I hope that answers your question. |

The drivers aren't allowed to change the characteristics while driving. Back to your question...it is not a part of the engine as clutch, gearbox & differential works as a different unit although they are attached directly to the engine thru the clutch. |
