If the Championship outcome wasn't affected then you would have to rule out Ferrari and McLaren and possibly Jordan. Jackie Stewart has got more scruples than the rest of the F1 pack so I would rule out Stewart/Jaguar. Can't see Arrows or Minardi affording it. Sauber have Ferrari backing so that makes them doubtful. If it was prost then they were incompetent. The reports mention 3 teams under suspicion which points the finger at Mecachrome/Supertec etc. Surely not Williams. My vote goes for a team beginning with B.... but I have said enough, the lawyers might be listening.

Well Mr Jeffrey, I think you read my mind!
That was pretty much how I voted, even though nobody else did!! [This message has been edited by Sparky (edited 21 April 2000).] |

I am with you guys and voted same. If Prost or BAR were using traction control, I would (1) demand a refund and (2) ask Bernie 'n' Max just what all the hullabaloo is about, as it apparently is no earthly use to anybody. If anything I'd suggest Arrows is using it this year, as they are suddenly a lot better than last year, but I don't think they are now or were then.

Max Mosley was talking about a midfield team.
Why does everybody seem to forget this! Ferrari, McLaren and Jordan are no midfield teams. Neither are Minardi, Arrows, Prost, and BAR. (We are talking 1999 here). Benetton, Sauber, Stewart and Williams are midfield teams. For the same reasons Paul mentioned I will rule out Stewart. Sauber? Forget it! They could also demand a refund. Williams and Benetton are what's left. I would have to say it's Benetton, although I can't say why. It's just a gut-feeling. And if it's not them, I apologize to all of the Benetton team. (Just a way to secure myself against a lawsuit for slander). |

Benetton probably are the favourites but I wouldn't be so quick to rule out stewart. Which is the one team that did far better in '99 than '98 (or so far in 2000)? Doesn't it strike you as a little suspicious?

Benetton. Simply because somedays the drivers looked like the fastest guys out there and on other days they could have done it quicker walking. Or in an Arrows.

What if McLaren, Ferrari and Jordan had it? That would have not affected the outcome, would it?
Is likely that the top runners had it since they were so far ahead of the rest. |

It's obviosly Stewart, they where running in front last year sometimes and they now have big problems to be in midfield, is it a coincidence??

May be Max Moseley should announce the name of the team which is using TC since 1997. Even laymen in paddock know who is 'Ted Czapski', the polish software guru linking Ross Brawn and co. with TC since good old bennetton days. And it surprises me no one has noticed the sudden meteorical rises and downfalls in ferrari speeds during the previous season. OOPS sorry it was the 'herr' carrying ferrari on his broad shoulders

You would have to suspect Benneton for their amazing variances in performance over the year but Jordan are also ones who made a huge improvement. All credit to them for getting to the level they got to last year and I am a fan but find it hard to understand how a team can get to the top (Or so close to) in such a short space of time. If they are or were not using TC all credit to them. You could however suspect that there are numerous teams at the same thing. All it takes is a software Guru to be able to cover his path as he goes along!

Autosport magazine reported today that it has proof that Max Mosley has evidence of three teams cheating in '99.
So Benetton, Jordan and Stewart could all have been using it... |
