Agree with you on that one Fire. Really enjoy it as it is now, don't see what the issue is really. I understand the safety thing as there has been a couple of nasty accidents in recent years but other than that. It's one of the few series that can get away with just two manufacturers. Always seems to have great crowds and great racing. Please don't send it the way of DTM. Hopefully, some of our Aussie friends maybe able to shed some light on it for us?

As you say doesn't seem to have generated a huge response, looks like the changes aren't as drastic as I first assumed, which is good.

For 2011 Mercedes wants DTM engines increase to 5L. Do they have plans for V8 Supercars?

Where do you think their heading with DTM? A lot of ideas seem to be being chucked about at the moment with changes in regs, discussions with Super GT and Grand AM. As suggested earlier by somebody do you think it's going down the endurance route? I know it's classed as touring cars but it doesn't have that feel to me.

Don't know were DTM will be in 2011 (even postpone new rules to 2012?). By contacting SuperGT and even a "low tech" series as GrandAm I get the impression they are desperate in finding a 3rd manufacturer. Wouldn't something like NGTC but with RWD and big V8's not good idea? There are several technical solutions but one think that also has to change is the way DTM is run. Instead of a full factory series in my opinion it has to change to a semi-factory series like V8 Supercars.

Definitley the way forward, NGTC looks good in principal and no reason they couldn't adapt it the way you suggest for DTM. Actually, now I think about it that's a cracking idea!

They should allow turbo six-cylinders. More "road-relevant", as they say now.

How about both? And yes, it is.

Six cylinder makes sense for BMW, but if it's going to be a spec engine everyone would need to agree. With such heavy manufacture involvement and all the politics that goes with it, that's where the idea probably falls down. Unless they could all manage to agree. Any comment from our German bloggers?

As far as the DTM's talks with Super GT and Grand Am go, I find the prospect of some sort of world series with stupidly fast prototypes, plenty of different types of car and engine and plenty of amazing circuits and events a trully great prospect.
But as far as Touring Car racing goes, the DTM needs to get back to road car based stuff, get the manufacturers selling road cars for homologation I say! V8's, V6's, turbo 4 cylinders, RWD, FWD, whatever, let em race! All that would be needed then is open faced helmets and big moustaches, all let loose around that North Loop! Put some Enduro's in there too, thats what Touring Car racing was built on. Touring car racing should be about the brand new M3 up against the brand new RS4, the new Focus RS500 against the new Mercedes C Class. I was watching some videos by ''DTM Enthusiast'' on Youtube, awsome cars, awsome racing, why can't it just be like that? |

Why a spec engine??? I know why, but why???
That sounds like the VLN, but much more massive. The VLN, ADAC and ITR should cooperate. |

Don't get me wrong it doesn't have to be a spec engine, I was just likening it to NGTC. Plenty of different options as suggested by the previous poster, spec engine is just another one.

Hmmm, will not be surprised if DTM uses current rules beyond 2010. |

May be, it will be intermediate period untill 2015? 4 years is one life cycle of dtm cars, so they can build new cars next year and another in 2015?
