Bathurst esses
Reading an article and the record for the Bathurst Hillclimb, from the car club to the tower at the top is in the 21 second range. Amazing how it takes the supercars about 23-24 seconds to go down the Mount. So much for been supercars.

probably because the V8s have to slow down so much so as to not risk hitting the walls on the exit to the corners, yet doing a hillclimb the speed can be carried a lot more.
Do a hillclimb from the Pro-Racer/McConkin love nest at Griffins to the tower and compare that, or do a hilldrop (is that a word?) from the tower to the car club. Apples and Oranges and all that |

Having done both events up and down, I was 1sec slower going up than coming down. The record is held by a open wheeler which on most tracks would beat a V8 Supercar by about 10sec a lap.V8 Supercars which have run in the hillclimb take about 28sec to do the climb.

Exactly!
Run the 'hillclimber' against the 'supercar' for two laps (anti-clockwise) & see how you go! I don't see the hilly taking the right-hand sweeper into The Chase at 290+ !!! |

The hilly you refer to is a ex indy car with over 500hp the Chase at 290+ no problem.Since I know the car after 2 laps the indy car would be at least 20 sec down the road.

And if it's like a lot of hillclimb cars, after 3 laps it would be boiled, brakeless and out of fuel!
Both vehicles fit the description of 'car' but that's about where the comparison ends. |
