Marcos Mantis...
This car seems fairly common among the national GT series, why? Is it competitive? Is it relatively inexpensive and simple to run and maintain? Also, does anyone know where I can find some good hi-res photos of the Mantis in Marcos Racing international colors? I like the unique look of this car, for some reason, and the green/yellow/red combination is cool as well.

I think low costs and simple technique are the cause of that. Plus it must be a fun car to drive

A Marcos Mantis Won its class at the Britcar 24 hours a couple of weeks back, finishing 7th overall, and all 5 that started, finished. So a pretty reliable package. Also, with the right drivers, pretty quick. As shown in the latest British GT round at Mondello, where Team Tiger took the Cup Class Pole, and 8th overall. Add in that Cor Euser is pretty much dominating the Dutch Supercar challenge, and i'd say that the Mantis is a pretty respectable bit of Kit.

why? I was developed as a inexpensive cup racer. But through organisational flaw's
the cup went bust. After that they appeared in national GT. And looked very effective. Plus it's really easy to modify. Now Mantis cars are seen in standard cup form as well as heavily modiefied 600hp Carbonfiber ground effect cars. Is it competitive? Yes it is, against Cup Porsches and so on in National GT Is it relatively inexpensive and simple to run and maintain? Yes you can already buy a good second hand one from $30.000. It is a tubular frame with a Glas/polyester skin. with mcpherson suspension. It has the standard Ford Cobra engine, wich can be easily tuned. Also, does anyone know where I can find some good hi-res photos of the Mantis in Marcos Racing international colors? Yes, look at the links in www.supercarchallenge.nl/fotos.asp |

Yes, I thought you might say that, but I thought that Britcar was supposed to only allow engine types in as they were originally manufactured. So in this case the Marcos Mantis should stick to a Ford V8?
