Ax Slinger should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Aaron's 312 Busch Race

Anybody watch it? 15 laps in, the cars are bunched up like always in plate races. And just like you knew was going to happen, the "Big One" happens. But this time it was really big. A 27 car pile up, leaving 16 cars in the field.

Are you paying attention, NASCAR? How many "Big Ones" does there need to be before your get the idea? You would think that after Dale Earnhardt, arguably the best plate racer in NASCAR, was killed during a plate race, you would get a clue that the plates were to costly. Ditch the plates! Before someone else dies.

I agree Tim, there has to be a better way to reduce the speeds without forming the dangerous big packs of cars.

that was a huge crash wasnt it , it was on at 4.30 am here and i was trying to stay awake for it , but of course fell asleep , i woke up about 12 laps into it and was just dozing when the accident occured , well I can tell you it soon woke me up.
that would have to have one of the biggest shunts I have seen in nascar, it was a shame it happened , but thats restrictor plate racing isnt it , just glad no one was seriously hurt in all of it

They mentioned it on the broadcast, but I was thinking about it too. That was one of the worst wrecks I've seen (Johnny Sauter's #2) since Rusty's two barrel rolls at Daytona & Talladega about 8-10 years ago.

Rusty's barrel rolls cause many changes to the cars--- Wonder if they will look into Sauters problem & make some changes

Rusty's roll was in '93. My brother and I saw it live from the RJ Reynolds Suite. I didn't think anyone could live thru that, but think God 'ol Rusty came crawlin out. I believe it was the next year that roof flaps came out. We saw the car the next day in the garage area. There wasn't much sheet metal left on it.

How am I sick?

The crash is NOT the reason I can't wait to see the race. I can't wait cos my favourite driver, Casey Mears, got 5th in the race.

Go Casey !!!

Everybody needs to keep an eye on Casey Mears, I believe he inherited the "racing gene" and may very well be the next superstar in Nascar.
I liked his dad and I like him too.

Well...that was the first NASCAR race I've seen on television since the 1993 Daytona 500 thanks to Australia's poor free to air coverage - happened to be in a Motel that weekend which had Foxtel - anyway, BIG crash, I tell you, that really wakes you up at 4am in the morning - that crash was huge, glad everyone was mostly unharmed.

BTW, this is my first post in the NASCAR forum, might try and make a few more sometime

It was a great race from Casey. I hope he can get some more top 10 finishes this season.

Really? Didn't know that. Guess I missed out on a lot of NASCAR...anyway, I remember the Daytona race from '93 - It was probably one of the first full races I watched (apart from Australian Touring Car races) and I remember being impressed.
