Pato should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Rookie of the year?

So far in my opinion the best rookie has been Norbert Michelisz, he's been consistently in the points all season. Fredy Barth comes a close second.

Some pretty bizarre options on there.

PernĂ*a and Bueno only competed in one race, and of course there are plenty of others who have only run once (the three Moroccan's in the Maurer's for example)...I think including the two one off Chevrolet drivers is a bit odd in the first place.

I've taken the liberty to add Harry Vaulkhard to your poll though, it is his first WTCC season as well.

Of course, some drivers like Tim Coronel & Colin Turkington have very little experience and could also be classed as 'rookies' too (Wonder who'd be on top on this poll then )

However, of your options...Michelisz and Barth are probably the two key rivals...Barth was stronger earlier, but Michelisz does seem to be up the front more consistently at the moment.

I've only really included the guys who are fairly new to this level of touring car racing, Vaulkhard has also done BTCC which I consider to be on an equal level to WTCC in terms of driver talent. I added Bueno and pernia to add a few more options

Given Bueno is a three time Brazilian Stock Car champion, I'd put his acheivements to date a bit ahead of Vaulkhard.

If we are following the WTCC's own Rookie Challenge classification then both Bennani and Nykjaer need adding to this list, and Bueno and Pernia removing.

For me I don't think anyone has especially stood out. Michelisz has been quickest but has made too many rookie mistakes - a couple of times he's been gifted a great reverse grid position and then fluffed the start, and been involved in a few silly accidents.

O'Young has put in some good performances but not consistently. Difficult to say how much of that is down to the driver and how much down to the car.

That's a bit too evil. Harry was progressing and he still took a win before O'Young. They're both good drivers. Vaulkhard has less experience than O'Young with regards to the tracks and to the close and hard racing of the Wtcc.
Harry definitely needs a bit more time, but he has the talent and had a solid season until a sponsor had to give up. The two were pretty equal in terms of points scored (Harry had a gap of only 7 points from O'Young). I don't understand why you would say that Vaulkhard gave up because he couldn't match O'Young's pace...
