BTCC Tyre swap on grid

Can anyone tell me why they BTCC cars leave the pits, drive round to the grid, then swap their tyres around? Why don't they go this in the paddock?

Thanks

To quickly heat up the rears by putting them on the front. It's the two upfront that take the real punishment, ergo heat up, on an FWD car.

As Duke said its to warm up the tyres

most of the FWD cars put the RR on the FL and the RL on the FR for the formation lap although the Integras put RR on FR, RL on FL.
