Austin Metro's 30th & Rover Metro's 20th Birthday

Hi everyone,

This year the Metro Owner's Club is celebrating the Austin Metro's 30th Birthday and the Rover Metro's 20th Birthday.

On Sunday May 30th many members of the club met at Gaydon and the turnout was awesome....

The weather was dry fortunately as some of us members don't do wet....

We all know the Metro's weaknesses.... afterall the design is now over 30 years old....

Here is a link to the 315 odd images that I took that day.

I am chuffed to bits as the Club Committee wants my Motobuild tuned 1990 Rover Metro GTI spi to go on the club stand with other iconic Metros including a wonderful MG 6R4 Rally car that was re-imported from the USA, at this year's Classic Car Show at the NEC, Birmingham in November.

Can't wait ....

Gaydon very kindly dug out a few Metros that they have stored up there which was kinda nice.

See if you can spot any of them !!!

Take care and I hope that you enjoy the photos.

Paula Hamilton

PS. Here as a taster are some fotos of the cars there including the last factory staff signature laden 1998 Rover 100 ever built.

My GTi has now been replaced by a Mk2 MG Metro Turbo as I can't attend the Classic Car Show now due to unforeseen circumstances...

Maybe next year ...
