Danny_GT2 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
LMP1 & LMP2 are almost exact opposite with lots of new constructors & engines to chose from in P2 & nothing really from P1, except the new Aston but I don't think there was any mention of em selling to privateers!

Actually there was. Jota will have one in 2012. But there won't be all that many privateer cars as it stands right now, so they aren't really an alternative to Lola as far as filling the grid is concerned...

I want to see 12-15 competitive P1's backed up by a similar number of P2's.

In the early 2000's there was great P1 variety but how many cars fullfilled their potential and challenged the R8's?

Speaking of Lola is the Rebellion car/s testing with the Toyota engine?

According to the endurance-info article they weren't.

I thought it said the exact opposite, and that it wasn't the first running of the package.

Actually yeah sorry I think you might be right.

"The Lola was apparently it powered by a Toyota engine, derived from the Lexus V8 used in SUPER GT. This was not the first run of the package, which had made its first steps in Monteblanco last weekend. Jean-Christophe Boullion and Andrea Belicchi were aboard."

Sometimes a bit iffy with the translation tools on the internet.

To put the Rebellion thing to bed Autosport reports that they have indeed tested with the Toyota unit at Monteblanco last week. Unfortunately the tragic news about Hugh Hayden meant they didn't continue running the car in some further tests.

Are teams aware of the 2011 P1 restrictors?

It will be interesting to see if the Toyota engine is basically in GT500 spec or if significant changes were made.

Hopefully it's the former and all GT500 engines can be used with relative ease.

Intentional or not, that is the funniest post ever.

Spend €2m minimum and not be aware of the regs??

Not regs, restrictors.

A current LMS P2 puts out around 520bhp but the Highcroft ALMS P2 car reportedly has 580bhp+ thanks to more generous restrictors.

The petrol vs diesel balance is the hot topic of conversation and that +/-60bhp will make a big difference.

Restrictors are part of the regs....

But they can be changed from race to race and more likely than not it's this that is being argued over hence Peugeot and Audi making their voices heard in the last week or two.

These smaller diesels have not raced in anger so who knows if 520bhp is enough to be competitive or closer to 600bhp.

It would be nice to know which petrol restrictor the ACO have chosen even though non diesel teams don't exactly have other options.

Given Quifel ASM's 2011 P1 Zytek is only two seconds off ORECAS 908 pace in testing I'd suggest the higher figure is more likely.

As the ALMS and LMS rules are different.

Right now all I'm interested in is if Rebellion are testing a car with nearer 500bhp or 600bhp.

Reportedly the Quifel ASM Zytek ran with a 2010 P1 restrictor giving them an extra 30bhp which is similar to the spec Highcroft ran in the ALMS.
