Ardua MK2 - Urgent search for information.

Hello! i#m new in this forum and I hope my post is correct here. I#m searching quite urgently any informations about the Ardua MK2 sportscar homebuilt and driven by Les Aylott in the early 70s. A friend of mine bought the car with chassis #69 and tries to get a HTP for it. We now have to find evidence for the period specification of the car. Here's a picture of the car how it looks like todays. We'd be grateful for any kind of help!

It raced extensively in Castrol/MN and Tricentrol Sports GT races in 1973 and 1974. What sort of information do you need?

I have never heard of it. Were there really 68 Arduae before that one or is the chassis number a joke?

@allenbrown: I need original photographs from that time, quite close, so one can identify the details of the construction. Drawings, pictures with starting numbers and starter lists of the same races. If you really have something to offer, you could send me a private message with your contact data, maybe?

I suppose the chassis number is the year of construction by Les Aylott.

For photographs, contact Ted Walker at Ferret Fotographic. He has photos from that period and may even be able to find close-up pictures.

For race results, ORC will be publishing 2-litre sports car results soon, including the British national series. Where we have entry lists, we'll publish those too.

I already tried to contact Ted Walker for three times, but never got a reply. Maybe he has some Email-Problems again. But thank you very much so far. Hope there will be some more soon.

Sorry, for not knowing, but what is ORC?

Les Aylott was a regular in Silverstone Libre races with the Ardua, late 60's / early70's

PS It never looked as smart then as it does now.

Maybe this should just be the Ardua thread John. By October 1974, Aylott was up to the Mk 4 and had moved up to the 1650cc class - probably because of all the very quick ex-F100 cars that had invaded his usual 1300cc domain.

I have no idea whether the Mk2, MK3 and Mk4 were different cars or variations on the same chassis but I'd suggest we keep them all together.

I found a race video on YouTube. It's the "MN Special GT Race" in Crystal Palace on 09-09-1972. If I saw it correctly you can see the Ardua MK 2 on 0:13 behind a Astra RNR1 (guess) and on 0:33 in front of it. On 0:43 it seems to be involved in a little accident with a red car. Is there someone to confirm that this is an Ardua MK2 like ours?

Les Aylott Profile

Hi, I found a profile of the Ardua builder Les Aylott in the 1975 Autosport annual. It describes a little of the building of the cars and the various marks.
It can be seen here http://pbpb.fotopic.net/p68511547.html

I saw the car race at Ingliston in 1974 and recall it had very home made look,
nothing like the latest version.

There is another pic of the car at Ingliston here

http://www.ingliston-circuit.co.uk/p...liston_10.html

on Iain Niclsons site

Hope this is of some help, Cheers Ian
