Lockhart Creek
I've decided to lay Club America to rest for a while - that last corner was starting to suck up an awful lot of spare time in its redesign!! Maybe I'll come back to it one day, or the circuit owners will order a redesign, but until then...
A bit of background history... Lockhart Creek was built in 1983. It was originally planned by a wealthy businessman as a kart track on a small plot of land, but as designers were brought in, he acquired far more land and decided to expand his plans. Built near a small aerodrome in Northern Australia, it took around 4-5 years to fully finish. The grandstands were added after its first race - originally it only had some grass banking around its edges, however these had to be moved back to expand the gravel traps, which originally only skirted round the track. The main pit paddock was redeveloped in the mid 90's, and in 1994, the medical centre burnt down (though luckily no race was being held at the time!). The car park was only built in 1987, as only small club races had been held up to then. It was built in time for its first big event, a national Touring Car race, the Lockhart 300. In 1997 the chicane was built, mainly for the fast, single seater series after a crash at T6 in a Formula BMW race. It is a pretty quiet circuit now - it has held several Porsche Carrerra Cup races in recent years, but never managed to attract the modern V8 Supercars, mainly due to its remoteness. It mainly runs track days and small single-seater formula series. The lake is artificial and was built around 2001. Runs clockwise and is around 4 km long. |

I looked up and actually found Lockhart Creek in Australia - great neighborhood for a quiet track like this. I suspect a lot of wet races here - just makes them the more interesting, right?

That is a fast track. Turn 2 is a cracker. I'd not have built tha grandstands at turns 3 and 5 at their current places. You would not see a lot from there.

Awesome!!
T6 reminds me of T1 Philip Island. Not only do I like your track but the presentation and overall scheme of things looks very serious to me. Top notch job, I can't find nothing wrong so far. |

I have one or two concerns about the pit lane entrance. I think it should be placed before the final corner, roughly where the paddock access is situated.
Other than that, top job |

It's not too bad,but not ideal, I've raced with exactly the same arrangement and you have to always be careful when exiting the track because you tend to slow down somewhere close to the race line, placing it where Tathrim recommends is a big improvement, IMHO too, it's the only thing I would change if at all.

Hehe, thanks for all the comments guys.
As to the pit-lane entrance, I was going to place it around where Tathrim suggested, but I was thinking of the racing line problem I had with Club America - although I guess here because you're setting your entrance up for the final corner its not the same thing. Lol, I can never get this right! I'll fix it soon! |

Tathrim guesses correctly
T5 just looks so inviting ... Sweep through T6 down the straight with overtaking into T5. |

T7 would have to be widened for that to work though , IMO, so there's more room for runoff. I do see the direction change as a nice suggestion though. |

Well here is the modification. Changed a couple of other minor things too.
Might do a street circuit next... |
