Lee Purnell should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
American racer Paul Edwards has won the winter Formula Palmer Racing title with a hat trick of wins. The 21 year old is now eyeing up a drive in the Full FPA series next year, only because of its prize drive in Formula 3000!!!!!

A Canadian PR dude asked me whether I was interested in creating a site for an American, who he was bringing over to do the Winter FPA.

He went quiet when I told him I wanted moolah instead of hospitality (FPA sucks).

Wonder if that winning blokey was the intended website-type chap...

So why are you so negitive about FPA?
I think it is a really good race series that gives young drivers the same
type of machinery, technologicaly and speed, for a lot less of the cost for a season in F3.
there is a lot of overtaking and also a lot
publicity. In my opinion it is a great thing.

Don't worry about Graham - if it's not a mini or a TVR it don't count!

Don't insinuate I'm a two horse man!

I don't like FPA 'cos it's shown on TV too much and barging other, more exciting, series off the air.

The format is good... I just don't like one thing shoved down my throat every minute on every motorsport programme.

Besides, I don't just like Tivs and Mins. I like Caterhams as well

I think FPA is a wonderfully entertaining series that gives young drivers an excellent leg up!

The good drivers shine, the not so good don't have any excuses. And in my opinion Its not shown on telly nearly enough!

I had a few of my buddies race that series the last few years. They said that the preperation and the hosipitality is better then most Indy Lights & Atlantic teams. Besides, the budget is resonable & the prize is awesome....FPA is here to stay. It already killed the Euro vauxhall series & may put an end to the F.Renault series as well.

If the FPA gets so much TV coverage would anyone like to tell me where and when because I've never seen it.

I don't have sky either, but there is a half hour programme on in the middle of the night in our region (meridian) It's called the best of British Motorsport.

It features MGF, Caterhams, British GT series, FPA, F3 etc.

I set the video for it.

The best TV prog by far is Best Of British Motorsport shown at the stupid time of 4am on Friday mornings.

ITV are idiots.

The reason it works is because it's all run by the same team. Some F.Renault, FF2000 (US), F.Opel are charging a stupid amount of money based on there past results and cheating techniques. They are asking more then 1/2 million dollars a season for 12 race series. But, if you want to win in those series you'll need to run with those teams........Therefore, Palmer Audi offers the same level of racing with a better TV package for more then 1/2 the cost & a great prize for the champion....Besides, no BS & nobody has have a huge advantage over the other. I.E cheating, trick parts and a stupid amount of testing. It's almost too good to be true!
By the way, Speedvision will show races in the States & Canada in Y2K.

Dont you think that something that looks too good to be true, may well be just that?

Why isn,t Richard Lyons sticking with it?

Isn't he going F3000 next season? If not Britt F3 or Indy Lights. 2 seasons is enough, it's time to move up....At the end of the day, F3 is still a step up!
I met Justin Keen at California Speedway, he was there talking to Indy Light teams about 2000. He tested for Dorricot that week.

I think FPA is a very interesting and intelligent formula, exceptings details like its points system (19 drivers gaining points, with the winner receiving only 24, is a heaven for regular-but-not-so-fast drivers, in my opinion).
I would like to mention, too, a point that I already critized in another topic: I don't see what Richard Tarling will benefit from another year in the series, his prize for conquering the 99 title. It seems now that ''European Palmer Audi'' will be almost the same championship that we saw in the last two years, plus some few races in the continent. For me, put him in F-3000 would be much more fair. It will be almost only a title defence, something without sense in the way to the higher formulae.
