Can i have advice for and and against if possible. I'd like to know whether I really am thick for thinking this...

If you are undecided try and get down to Caterham Cars (having checked out their web site and booked an appointment), drive a few and make your own mind up.
You can also check out www.blatchat.com for some further insight.
Good luck

Well looking at it, I'm guessing around £10k.

As new as possible really.

Really? So that's completely unrealistic?

I've even seen a couple on the Caterham website for around that much.

Hey don't be put off, £10k will buy you a lot of fun.
I saw a 2000 Classic in Caterham Cars yesterday in nice condition with 31,000 miles.

http://www.caterham.co.uk/assets/htm...ails.html?ID=8

You dont need to have 250 bhp for your first Caterham, the Classic is as close to what Colin Chapman intended as you can get.

There are plenty of second hand cars on Piston Heads too.
