Harewood Classic & Vintage 4th June 2011
It's not very often that I get to hillclimb events but managed to get to the event at Harewood last Saturday which included a large entry from the VSCC. So I thought I would post a couple of batches of photos from a very enjoyable and entertaining event:

Hi Gary,
That's a cracking set of images and in what looks like very overcast conditions. I like the more 'personal' nature of the images and the presentation's pretty good as well! I'll be going to the Loton Park meeting on July 10th as we will be holidaying in the area and my wife has given me a 'day pass' to go and revisit an old haunt not seen since the early 80's (does anyone out there remember Chris Cramer and Alistair Douglas-Osbourne and Nic Mann in the Morris Minor-Rover V8 for example?).... I'll be packing the camera gear so I will try and post images from there once I get back home to base. Just hope the weather keeps up! Thanks and kind regards, Neil. |

Wonderful!
The big Merc with the fairground ride sized steering wheel looks like hugely entertaining drive. I love it when there is an opportunity to get facial expressions rather than full helmets. In the right light with a long enough lens there is usually potential unless dark visors are in play. But open face, open car and suitably close proximity to the action make such shots so much more effective. Time to look at the Hillclimb season calendar I think. |

Thanks for the comments folks. I was quite pleased with the outcome given the weather conditions - it was dry but quite windy and one minute it was sunny the next it was overcast, so lighting was a problem.
I do think that hill-climbs are worth a visit even by those of us more usually found at race meetings. There are some great cars, entertaining driving and a friendly gathering. Gary |

I agree about the friendly atmosphere at hill climb events. I've attended the past few years at the revived Bo'ness venue, which have been highly enjoyable - with many similar cars to those at Harewood. http://www.bonesshillclimb.org.uk/index.html |
