Simple answer, someone phone up Geoff Steel Racing and ask them how much to have them run you in the BMW Dave Newsham recently vacated. It'll be less hassle to pay an existing team rather than do it yourself.

As much as I respect Geoff Steel and love Martyn Bell to bits, I cannot see people queing-up to buy a drive in a BMW this year..
Correct me if i'm wrong! Had an interesting chat with Colin Turkington last week in Sweden... Oh what could have been if the BMW had a turbo! |

In the BTCC especially I think BMW runners have an instant disadvantage due to the fact that when they get tapped (which happens a lot in the BTCC) there is virtually no way to get the car back straight. In a front wheel drive car, you just plant the throttle and carry on.

And if it's drizzly weather, they're rubbish. Can't get any heat into the tyres at all.

Regarding v8 supercars that wiki link posted on page 1 is about ballpark, Id be guessing a lot more expensive then BTCC, but then again the cars are a lot less production based and the drivers earn a lot more.

I read an interview with Sean Hollamby towards the end of last year where he reveals how much his first season in the BTCC cost. I seem to remember a figure of about £250k but I'll try & dig the Mag out & check.

Watching Mobil 1: The Grid the other week, James Courtney said that every driver racing in V8 Supercars gets a wage.
