Oulton Park Alfa fire

Hi everyone, I was at Oulton Park yesterday and got a few photos of the Alfa fire, the spin is it was actually my brother that was on fire and I was wondering if a motorsport magazine would be interested in the photos and if so please could someone guide me in the right direction please? Thanks.

( will attempt to post photo on here too )

Contact Autosport/Motorsport News through the Haymarket website, send the pic to picture editor.....but do it today or you'll miss the deadline...

Not quite as good as yesterdays F1 as that included an explosion but pretty dramatic all the same! Is that your logo on the side as well?

I was marshalling at that Chicane and saw all that - glad he was ok! Was certainly dramatic to see live! Great to see a pic and hope you can load up some more. Have you had any response from autosport or motorsport news?

Yes that's my logo but my website hasn't been running for a couple of years now as I had to stop attending bike race meetings due to personal circumstances and cost. I haven't had a response from Autosport :0( Will try and upload a few more pics but he did disappear over the hill on fire and I've never run so fast in my life to see that he was ok!!

I started to run very soon after this pic,was very scary seeing my brother disappear over the hill on fire,I knew he was going to crash, when I got to the top of the hill he was just getting out of the car,all the marshals were fantastic and I honestly can not thank them enough ( and feel very sorry for the marshals working so hard in the heat to clean up all the oil ) THANK YOU.

Last pic, I do find it quite strange that I was in the right place at the right time, they were racing the full circuit yet I was stood exactly where my brother decided to set his car on fire and managed to get some pics of it,amazing really.

Hopefully neither Richard or the car are badly damaged, any clues as to the cause of the leak?

Smacking the sump on a kerb has been suggested elsewhere?

Oohh, Alfa Romeo on toast, sunny side up. shame I was not there to help! I would have paid to see Oh-Be one Mark Noble running with a bottle.
Looking forward to an exciting AMOC meet on Saturday. See you there

Well done to the marshals for saving the situation, commiserations to Mr Salt for the damage to the car, and congratulations to Maria for the excellent action pix!

If you need a sump (or even a complete engine), Richard, give me a shout.....

Thanks Lancsbreaker, maybe the few years I spent trackside helped with capturing the action, just did it automatically, then ran frantically to see he was ok! The marshals were FANTASTIC.

P.S. Don't know about a new sump, maybe some lessons on AVOIDING the curbs would be most useful!!!!!

Doubtless....shortly after the message about waved yellow flags meaning slow down and be prepared to stop sinks in.......

Funny you should say that, I had a well known Brands marshall in the shop Monday who recons one of the guys was inches from getting hit while recovering a car by some cock who steadfastly refused to slow down through the yellow flag period in fact actually posted his fastest laps, it culminated in said cock leaving the track and wrecking the car the marshals were attempting to recover. He was hauled infront of the Clerk and severely punished and may even loose his super licence. More of this type of action is need. I understand the owner of the wrecked car is also taking legal action against him for full compensation.
