IIRC RSR still has an year left on it's life-support contract with Jaguar, but according to rumours 2013 will be the very last season (thank god).

Clearly the world's best life support machine! I seriously can't believe it will carry on beyond this year. Surely there is some clause in the contract to get Jag out of it.

Dont worry, Im sure Gentilozzi is looking for another manufacturer to scam, perhaps a RSR Lada GT program.

I think he should just fully concentrate on Trans-Am where Jags are actually competitive... and faster than the GT2 versions

Seriously thou, it is weird having a part-time ALMS support series that has faster Corvettes in it!

Hahahaha, thats pretty funny 1:18.5 for the TA pole, but a 1:21.5 for fastest race lap. The GTE Vette had a 120.2 in the race and a 1:19.5 in q'ing.

The TA Jag had a 1:20.7 in q'ing. vs the GTE Jag with a 1:20.9 in q'ing.

But these aren't really even comparisons given the series rules and chassis construction. Don't know what those TA cars weigh, they have power to weight scales.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is this trans am series you speak of? Is this current, or what? Give me the details please.

It is current as in it is still going on, but that is the only part of that word that can be applied to the series. Basically any car that has raced in TA since the mid 90's is eligible. So the joke at the track is that it is a"Historic Trans Am" series. They also allow old nascar cup cars in (monte carlo's) and cup porsches and ferraris, but there aren't many of those. Series website here.

Funny, yeah, but it's hardly that much of a Corvette! A little body change and it could be myriad other things. Harder to pull that with a GTE car...

Jaguar has new management, the RSR program was a product of the old management. The RSR contract will reportedly be run down while a P1 program is being investigated.

The architects of that program at Jaguar--former managing director Mike O'Driscoll and head of global marketing boss CJ O'Donnell--have both left the company. New Tata Motors CEO Carl-Peter Forster, who formerly worked for BMW and General Motors in Europe, is said to support the LMP1 program.

in 2014 Jaguar could return to Le Mans with a racing version of the F-Type developed in collaboration with Frank Williams and his team Williams F1. A number of specimens will be available for private teams.

Let's hope so. Still holding out for an LMP1 but would love to see that car in action.

rumours of british sources. Williams has already made simulations on the C-X75, and his desire now is to become partners in the division race, as happened with TWR.

fingers crossed, I first went to le mans in the eighties for the return of jaguar (group 44 before the main jag assault) and would be happy to see jags there again even if it is in GT rather than LMP

Thanks for clearing that up. Hope it comes about, would be a great tieup between two great companies.
