FIA spec XK Jags
Does anyone out there know anyone or anywhere where some fairly genuine FIA spec XK 120, 140 or 150 Jags are racing. We all know a lot of these cars were modified out of period due to the JEC and other series in the 80/90's etc. but it seems hard to find a genuine one on drums, 16" wheels with a 3.4 block, standard box etc. ( or if a 150 then 3.8 and discs). Replies very welcome !!!

Like many others I looked at prepping an FIA XK120 as I think they are wonderful cars. They were never competitive in period as they were never homologated with the goodies that C Types had and as a result they are slow if legal. XK150s have discs and 3.8 engine but are heavy. XK140 have the shortcomings of both models!!
Top Jaguar preppers have built and raced well developed but legal XK150s and they struggle to get into low 3-20s at Spa. A half decent TR2 will disappear into the distance and cost a fraction to build! In short if legal they are a car for tours not tracks, sadly. I only know of a couple of XK120s which are true FIA cars and both are owned by definite gentlemen drivers who use them as much on the road as the track. |

Oops, forgot about that & should have remembered, Tim Stamper ran one of the works (?) cars last year at Legends, however it wasn't quite as quick as Andy Sharp's car Mark, you must agree with that.

Simon. Thanks for the thoughts and yes I concur with your assessment of the position of XK's in the scheme of things. However the FISCAR Historic INTER-MARQUE series is a perfect home for them as there are plenty od other cars that are not super-quick. I would appreciate it if you can PPM me or ask the owners to contact me as we would be very very keen to get these FIA jags into our series ( which is full of Gent' Drivers).
Also anyone else who knows of any FIA XK's Mark |
