Formula 1 returns to Jerez
Respected promoters Jesus Pareja and Francisco Santos have today announced a new international event at the Jerez de la Frontera Circuit, on October 12/14, supported by both local and regional authorities. Top level contemporary motor racing will be staged alongside historic cars.
The penultimate round of this year’s Spanish GT Championship will be featured, along with the final round of the FIA Historic Formula One Championship. This celebrates the return of Formula One racing to the Andalucia circuit 15 years after the Grand Prix of Europe of 1997.
This HFO Historic Formula One race will include some of the famous Grand Prix cars which battled in the very first Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez in 1986. These include Ayrton Senna’s Lotus which pipped Nigel Mansell’s Williams over the line by a mere 0.014s, one of the smallest winning margins in F1 history.
Two other single seater grids are included in the Jerez historic event: the combined grids for Formula 2/Formula 3 – the Sir Jack Brabham Trophy –, plus Formula Ford/Formula Ve/Formula Junior/Formula Vauxhall Jr/Formula 1430.
Other classic and historic races – for Touring and GTs – are also being planned and a full programme for the first Historic Festival in Andalucia will be announced in June at a launch in Jerez.

Will leave it up but would have liked to have seen some more personal input, and I'm happier to see these more from those who regularly post and contribute rather than post just to promote. However, I won't shoot the messenger, and the deal is that we would like to see some posts and pics about the event afterwards. Hope it is a great meeting.
