Visiting Knockhill
Not sure which meeting to attend yet, BSB or BTCC, but a daytrip from the midlands is out of the question.
Do i fly to Edinburgh the hire a car, but where do i stay, near knockhill or in Edinburgh. Flying is far cheaper than the train, almost half price! |

plenty of options available
dunfermline is the nearest Town/city to the circuit am sure you'd get somewhere there or you could try accomadation in Edinburgh Perth could also be an option as its bout 25/30 minutes away by road if u decide your hiring a car Kinross is a small town midway between Knockhill and perth |

Just a 50 minute drive from Glasgow too, all motorway up to the Kincardine bridge.
Falkirk and Stirling are 15/20 minutes away, and good options too. Falkirk being south of the Kincardine bridge, and Stirling west of Alloa. |

From Coventry, its just as quick, and probably cheaper, to drive up.
Especially through the lake district and the Borders its an enjoyable drive and doesn't take too long. send a PM if you want details of a couple of good places to stay. |

No problem.
Knockhill is, contrary to popular belief, not in the middle of nowhere. A majority of Scotland's population can reach it within an hour (most of us live in the central belt), so I'd have a good look at maps of the area to see what suits you best. Remembering that it's 50 minutes to Glasgow by car, and use that as a gauge. |

And book up for accomodation early, as most of the surrounding lodges and inns will be full up by the time either event comes around. Of course you can stay further afield and commute in. Plenty of places within 30-45 mins away.

Well, it was like the piano player stopped and all heads turned to look at us when we walked in, it was very much a "local" pub for "local" people. We made a hasty retreat. We found a VERY, VERY nice modern pub/diner type place which we ate in both nights. Back to reception, "we're marshalling the BTCC, what's the earliest you can do breakfast?", "Oh, on a Saturday, 7am until 10am". When we get there at 7:15am we're told, no, breakfast doesn't start until 8am. Ok, so you're here, can you get us some conrflakes and coffee and toast please, we need to be at the circuit before 8am. This apparently is far too complicated for them to actually do, so we have to leave empty handed (well, empty somached). Circuit breakfast was delicious though! Get back to the hotel on the Saturday night and the car-park is pretty much full but manage to find a space, the entrance to the hotel has small children and mothers running around, turns out they are waiting to be let in for the "Purple Dinosaur Show" (because "Barney" is obviously copyright), didn't even THINK about getting dinner in there that night, so went straight back to the nice bar/diner! The whole confusion around breakfast was circumvented by a trip to Asda to pick up cornflakes, croisants, milk and a couple of bowls and spoons, and a large air freshner (wasn't for the hotel room, flag post, hairpin, sewage air pipe, all I'm saying!) Sunday night we check about breakfast on Monday, "7am 'til 10am", so we come down at 9:30.... I bet you can see what's going to happen here.... yup, "Finishes at 9!". Oh, and it wasn't "sorry, finishes at 9, can I get you coffee and toast" it was more like "FINISHED AT 9" as she was shouting over the noise of the hoover which the promptly chased us with. So, to finish, if you want to stay somewhere where you'll have plenty of stories to rant about but no chance of any food then the KM is the place for you! |

If you are up in Fife / Edinburgh, might as well head to Cowdenbeath Racewall on Saturday night where there will usually be a short oval meeting 6pm - 10pm for some alternative racing action - better than a night sitting in a hotel room!!

I've just had to do a last minute hunt for accommodation for the BTCC and found myself something very nice However, In the course of it, I've managed to find probably the last 3 or 4 B&Bs in easy reach of the circuit that still have rooms left. I've been asked by the owner of Nivingston Country House to let people know that they have accommodation for this weekend - they've been getting refurbished and have only just re-opened. I can't give them a recommendation as I've never been there, but they seem like very nice people and if you've left it this late to book, you are going to have difficulty finding somewhere anyway!

3 more B&Bs that still have availability for the weekend
Carriden House http://www.carridenhouse.co.uk/ Mawcarse House http://www.mawcarsehouse.co.uk/ Woodlands B&B http://www.woodlandsbnb.com/ Again, can't recommend any of them as I've never stayed there, but hopefully it'll save you some time if you're currently looking for somewhere. |
