I watched the Red Bull wing flex test this weekend, it is clear from the test procedure that the 'flex' is measured as a displacement from the center of the wing to the outboard ends of the wing. If the center of the wing moves downward along with the rest of the wing (or by a lesser amount but still keeping the relationship to the wing tips in spec), the wing passes.
That said, one of the scrutineers had occasion to grab the nose of Vettel's car after the race as it was shuttled around in Parc Ferme, and they didn't feel that it was flexy, for whatever that's worth. |
