No sense singling out a couple of teams, they've all done it - or do you think that the entire Man Utd squad is home-grown........? Quote:
On the subject of BE, does anyone have any real idea of how much he screws F1 for? |

When BE is gone, there will be someone put in his place who will ask the venues to pay more, so that CVC can actually start making money on their investment. With regard to Rookie testing: Why would anyone want to risk having to rebuild their cars for the second session after a 'rookie' mistake in the first one? Do it in the second session and then the mechanics have more time to rebuild the car for Saturday's one hour session. Then the regular driver can have good reason to complain about why his car is handling so differently from when he last drove it. I suppose that F1 just needs to have more rookie tests in isolation of the GP events? |

Enough to pay a German banker a $44 million bribe without even flinching!Charging Silverstone £17m per annum for a GP (and that's cheap).
There is absolutely no good reason why any F1 team should need to recruit pay drivers. The money is there.......its just got stuck in a few grubby hands. |

I wholeheartedly agree that FOM should pay the lower ranking teams more money. But we should also be wary of teams that are in F1 just for the money. We don't want another HRT turning up because the hand-outs will make all of the teams management, instant millionaires.

What if teams have to finish at most 2 laps down to collect money?

We're going a bit OT here - but I'm old enough to remember when MU were considered THE cheque-book club. They seemed to buy players when they were available just to stop other clubs having them. (And they were in Div 2 back in the 70s )

Just like motorsport, not many of them reach the top flight - but when they do, they don't half make an impact. Remember Alan "You'll never win anything with kids" Hansen's comments when Beckham and co arrived in the first team? How he must cringe hearing that now... Anyway - McLaren have a similar system, eyeballing and supporting young drivers; with the exception of Lewis (who it seems got a far bigger slice of the pie than most of the others) relatively few of them get to the top in any series, let alone F1. But if you can find that one diamond, the one that makes the grade... Hamilton, Franchitti, Coulthard, Paffet. Not a bad selection, is it? |

I don't get upset at clubs buying players if they have generated the cash. One of the greatest managers of all, Brian Clough, regularly wielded the chequebook. Sometimes without asking the board... Err, anyways, back on topic! |

sure it should be discouraged but as long as F1 makes money im not sure how you would ever prevent it entirely ? but speaking of discouraging that type of behaviour, instituting a budget cap that includes both a maximum and minimum spending limit is common practice in most sports that use salary caps. |

Bruno Senna is off the 2013 season of Formula 1 . The 29 year-old, who won the championship last year by Williams ,...
I must have missed that! Well, if he is WDC it makes sense that he is looking for a new challenge now. |
