Don't seem right to me that the reigning champion and the runner up didn't qualify for the season opening spectacular. Nascar should have done something about that. Now on the other hand, if Joonyer hadn't have qualified they'd have been running around thinking up any hairbrain entry criteria to get him in. 'Past race winners who haven't shaved in 18 months' and the like.

Anyway, anybody can win. As usual in a plate race it's who avoids the wreck.

I just logged into nascar's website to find out something about the previous posts and entrants...i think the power grib in my area just shut down. Absurd, and way too much going on there, or am I that old?

The chat link is at the top bar of this forum. It gets around 10-20 people on race days, especiall for F1 and endurance races.

Glad to know it wasn't just me. Took 5 min just to find the schedule but I could find two articles about Danica and Stenhouse on the front page right away.

That sounds about right, since StenPatrick is the only thing worth talking about in all of motorracing.

That race was an absolute snorer, IMO. Best aspect about the race was that JJ, JeffG and Kyle all got taken out in the same wreck. Worst aspect of the night was that Mark Martin got taken out in the same one.

I was hoping to see Tony Stewart take the checkered flag first, and he's usually pretty good at those last lap charges to the front, but he couldn't get it done this time. Oh well... I'm happy for Harvick.

Was definitely a letdown, but I thought the worst part was the option for fans to vote to eliminate drivers. I know the winning vote was to not eliminate anyone, but why would they even implement such a laughable idea?

Because their viewership is skewing hugely older and losing both on track and tv fans, and they probably hired some facebook/twitter consultants like ESPN did. They don't look for what improves the event but rather what gets them trending. Unfortunately trending doesn't measure if people like or hate what's happening, just that they are talking about it.
