Seeking Information On Monty Terrell Ex. Chief Flag Marshall Brscc
Hi, my Uncle was Monty Terrell. Sadly, he died circa 1980; don't know exactly when. I am trying to gather information about him. Anything that any of you guys on the site could tell me, any photos, etc., would be most appreciated. From memory, he and his Family lived in Bromley. I would like to contact my Aunt and cousins. I know that he was a very interesting guy, as he was a Spook - SOE - during WWII conducting operations behind enemy lines in France. Robert

Monty Terrell
Hi there,
I didn't work closely with Monty, but I know a few people who did. I'll put my feelers out. I do recall am article in a Motor Racing 'annual' when i was a teenager that covered Monty teaching Swedish marshals. I'll keep you posted. |

Monty
Monty was my Grandfather; he died in 1976 of Leukaemia. My mother, Hilary, was the second of three daughters and lives in Droitwich, Worcestershire. His eldest daughter, Sandra died in 1998 and his youngest, Wendy, currently lives in Reculver, Kent. The family all lived in Hayes, nr. Bromley as you mention back in the day. The bit about the Swedish Marshalls is interesting. I have memorabilia from that and the Grand Prix held at Anderstorp at the time.
Not sure about the SOE bit. He was in the Royal Artillery for 23 years and left as a Warrant Officer. He spent most of his war in North Africa and Iraq. I can explain more on this if interested Happy for you to get in touch. Regards, Tristan Kemp |

I remember Monty as BRSCC Chief Flag Marshal (mainly at Brands Hatch) in the mid '60's. I recall him as a gentleman (in both senses of the word) and when I started marshalling he was very helpful and supportive. I hope somebody will come forward with some personal memories of Monty from those happy days of BOAC 500, Race of Champions and Guards Trophy race meetings when we had 'the best seat in the house'
