Chassis paint colour help!
I'm getting ready to paint the chassis of my '69 Titan Mk5 and would like to match the original grey colour if at all possible. I'm presuming that late 60's cars would have been painted from the factory rather than powder coated? And help with a colour code would be much appreciated.
Thanks. |

Not too positive and not from original eye witness resource ....light grey...from the fact they scraped down an original chassis and that's what is was on first. Sorry if that isn't positive enough.
There are 50 shades of the stuff apparently......arf arf. |

Great, thanks. I have found a bit of grey paint on my chassis so might try and copy that. I can't decide whether to powder coat or paint? Any thoughts from anyone? I'm aware that power coating can sometimes hide chassis cracks, but I believe chassis could have been powder coated in the 60'/70's so from an originality point of view I'm ok with that. But if they came painted from the factory then perhaps I should do the same?

Wouldnt it have been stove enamel, didnt think powder coat was even invented then? Personally I prefer paint because if you do some damage you dont have to grind it off like the powder coat.

It probably would've been stove-enameled, but I would just get it powder coated. You'll get a much nicer finish than painting.
