Oh, so that's it then? If Americans aren't winning, you don't want to watch it?

As for road courses in the future of the IRL,lets not forget that the IMS has one...a real nice one.
Food for thought. |

I mentioned in a thread in the Sportscar forum that there's a rumour that IMS is interested in divesting itself of the Glen, though, because NASCAR drivers have soured on road courses. Again, rumour. This rumour suggests that Dr. Panoz would buy it. Then CART and ALMS could go!

Would it be silly to suggest a semi-alliance between CART and ALMS in the interest of both their futures?
To me, it sounds like a good idea. Pook and Panoz are both very smart men..... |

If you look closely, I think you'll see that this alliance may be already in place (Miami, anyone?). Certainly there's a lot of venue overlap.

Sadly I don't think CART will survive more than three years from now on.
The big teams will leave to IRL next year or the following one and CART will look like IRL at first : bad. Yago |

I think you are wrong, Yago. If you noticed in the newsletter last night, the ratings for Chicago were up 33% over Portland and that was on CBS. The promotions are beginning to work! The advertising is everywhere and I never see any advertising for the competition.
And also if you will notice, the words "crash-filled" are prominent in every one of the Invisible Racing League's race reports. The vast amount of their "racing" is run under yellow flags, which is great for the level of talent they have I guess. And there is a lot of grumbling about the fact that the team formerly known as Penske is running off with everything because they have all the money. |

Methinks that the success of Penske is more than just Marlboro money and Roger's organization. They're advertising their own presence in the IRL on those cars, and TG needs them to be at or near the front to get any coverage... I wonder if the IRL are sponsoring them . |

"They're advertising their own presence in the IRL on those cars..."
Fascinating theory, Paul. You're likely spot-on. |
