McLaren's radios...
http://www.dailyf1.com/en/news/news.php?id=1681
Someone could make a killing running a seminar to teach F1 crews how to use a pit board. Or hey, how about just get a marker, a big piece of carboard, write "pit now" on it, and stand on the pit wall? This is _not_ rocket science!! That happens during the testing sessions. Yeah, I also wondered why they didn't use them. It appears that everyone use pitboards at every other GP when their radios work anyway... Granted that David and Kimi couldn't use them though...

I think Kimi and DC misunderstood the radio and came in.
Also in quickly changing conditions it isn't ideal - you have to wait an entire lap for the instruction to be carried out. It could be too late. |

Yeah, but actually I believe that David remained on dries for more than 1 lap when the rain came.
Anyway, radio problems is not an excuse for putting David on dries when it still rained... (3rd pitstop if I'm not mistaking) Last edited by Red; 9 Jul 2002 at 09:23. |

lol...hearing the radio on tv there was nothing wrong with it. DC and the team were just ****ing up. DC gave the team 5 seconds to answer the first time, they answered to late and DC missed the pitlane, he started swearing. This happened once more.
2nd they decided to keep DC out because "the weather was getting better soon", instead it started getting worse. So I wonder if they didn't just go for a lame excuse to hide their mistakes. |

This led me to the ultimate university prank - give bogus radio instructions to the drivers. Like MOVE OVER, or better still, come in - you have a 10 second penalty.
I remembre the time when the Uni students put up a sign at both ends of the Victoria Bridge "Roadworks in Progress - all trams to proceed at 5 MPH, one tram at a time on the Bridge, All cars to proceed via Grey Street Bridge". There were huge traffic jams all morning, with trams banked up way past the General Hospital until a policeman noticed that there was nobody working on the bridge. Great stuff. I bet because none of the authorities talk to each other that they all assumed it was 'official'!
Mind you in the UK we often have traffic cones and carriageways shut with no-one working - it's bizarre. Heh, Valve you ain't playing this stunt over here are you! On the old radio interference issue, I used to play in a pretty rubbish band and we regularly got local taxi firms coming through on our speakers. Trouble was, most of the taxi guys sounded better than the lead singer. |

Oh someone must be able to come up with something humorous to say about those "crossed lines"...
