Fines...
This fine is just *draconian* in my mind..
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/24675949 I know the rules are the rules, but come on... It's just one of the many things that need fixing.. |

Drivers can receive reprimands that lead to grid drops or ultimately a race Ban, but what can you do to a team ...
Fine them a few grand at a time or take constructors points off them (assuming they have any) that could cost them Millions. Suddenly it doesn't seem quite so draconian |

Williams promised to rectify the problem for this race, and they haven't. The simplest solution might have been to revert to an older system. Woe betide Williams if it happens again.

But nicely and respectfully, and not in any sense directed against either you or the subject!
Just a smiley! To go back to the original fine. It does seem a bit harsh, the system at least retained the wheel this time! But I suppose it is a warning shot across the bows to Williams and the rest! |

Okay.
It just hit me as a *huge* amount of money.. Its the only reason I started the conversation.. Maybe it's nothing in the overall scheme of wasted... |

£60k is a tiny amount of money in F1 terms.
A wheel falling off is lethal, and has been fatal in the not too distant past. A 60k fine for it is a bit of a joke in all honesty. |

it's not exactly easy to replace the hub/wheelnut system though is it?
these things aren't off the shelf. even if you just re-spec the metal, it can take longer than the gap between grands prix to get hold of it alone, without machining enough for 2x cars plus spares, finishing, and testing them. then you have to ship them to wherever in the world you are, and smuggle, er, customs clear them. all williams can do is manage the current situation tbh. |
