Grand Prix Heroes 7 Mate
For the F1 fans, you may want to check out Grand Prix Heroes on 7 Mate on Sunday at 13.30 EST.
Yesterdays episode was on James Hunt, plenty of F1 nostalgia from the days of fast cars, dangerous tracks, cigarette advertising etc. |

Thanks for the heads up kingair, recording Sir Jackie Stewart now
Looks like this is a 12 part series, any idea how many I've missed? And does anyone know of a link to the previously aired episodes? Cheers. |

Mike Cable is credited with the script!
Great episode on Jackie Stewart, but as it finished with the end of his driving career much was left out as to his personal impact on the improvement of safety around GPs and racing generally post his driving career. Incredible footage, particularly the slow mo stuff. And how about the cack of protection to the crowd/photographers/officials. WOW! |

Next week is Nikki Lauda on Saturday. 7 Mate - We're interested - Can you do something on Aussie Touring Cars that does the justice this program does??? |

It would be good if they went back into the archive and started showing old ATCC races. Guessing the reason they don't is cause they don't wanna blur out all the Tobacco money like they do when they show old footage now.

No blurring of tobacco logos on 7mate on any of the old rally or GP shows.

Do they have a TV On Demand website like NZ TV does so you can see what you've missed a few days later?

They've had all the programmes on continous rotation for the last 18 months or so, if you miss it the first time you only have to wait 2 or 3 months and they generally come round again

They had an episode on Sir Jack Brabham last week. It would be great if someone did a similar series locally.

Alot of the films they show, the driver documentries for example, were made by Neville Hay, the same Neville Hay who, along with son Richard, were part of the Channel 7 commentary team at Bathurst in the 80s and 90s.
Across their series of films, alot of interviews with the likes of Alan Jones and Denny Hulme were filmed in the paddock at Bathurst... in some of them Denny is even wearing a Tooheys 1000 hat. |

Yes I noticed that, I wonder if they were actually filmed the year Denny died (RIP). I didn't realise the connection of Neville Hay to Australia, I just assumed they were British. Ok still would like to see more local drivers.
By the way, the Jack Brabham show is repeated on Dec 27th at 1pm. |

These were made years ago (as in early to mid 90's), don't believe the Copyright date at end end as they've been rejigged slightly from the original version.
