Europe has plenty surely?

VW/Audi, BMW, Merc, Maser, Jag, Pug. The mainstream firms don't though, that is true.

I wonder if this Mazda6 GrandAm entrant will evoke some enthusiasm out of the Mazda Australia coffers?

The side-on proportions look good, too.

Rebodied Mundano aren't they?

Maybe there' s thought for any Ford involvement in the future if they replace the Falcon shell?

Does Mazda have a suitable engine for V8s? That car has been retired (the class for it is no more) and the engines have moved into the back of a Lola P2-class prototype. Does one think Mazda would be interested in V8s, especially considering the costs involved?

I'm sure they could find one. Given the sales of the 3 they have the reddies....

The answer to that is a resounding "NO".
They were approached but said they weren't interested unless it was production based series.

If you look at the rank of manufacturers by production, it might provide a few more targets:

I think if the happened to drop the trusty V8 in a couple of years Mazda and others might become very interested

Worldwide figures are irrelevant, for example a company like FIAT won't be spending a mill a year to sell 15 cars a month in AUS.

Mazda only ranks 16th yet is killin it in Australia. It's pointless info in my opinion

Very different attitude to their US cousins then.
