Kyalami - significant upgrades announced
Following the purchase of Kyalami by Toby Venter a series of significant upgrades have been announced including some layout changes. These involve the extension of the main straight (with a kink in the middle) to 900 metres in length, and some corner changes. You can see the old layout in pale grey in the aeriel view pic in the article linked below.
There are multiple infrastructure upgrades as well, and the intention is to get the circuit to FIA Grade 2 standard. Presumably the intention will be to attract some sort of international racing at some point in the not too distant future. Good news! http://www.motorsport.co.za/News/Dis...spx?niid=51108 Here is a simulation of the new layout with a virtual 962 taking some weird lines... |

When you said old layout, I thought you meant the real old layout

I know that, I just thought it would show an outline of where the old track used to be, buried in that retail park where it once stood to sound of turbos

That video... sounds like 1980's mod tracker music, argh.
Still, looks like a few passing zones: Leeukop, Barbeque, Cheetah, Ingwe, maybe Crocodiles? And - are there two pit complexes? One at the start/finish line and one later on just after Barbeque? |

Yes, the main pits on the start/finish line and support pits round the other side.

I was lucky enough to spend a day at Apex Track Design a few years back, and they said it was now pretty much industry standard to have two separate pit facilities, with the idea of being able to host two simultaneous races. Selby |
