Should We Use The Blue Flag?

We’ve almost been operating for 3 years at Capital Karts and have long debated the use of the Blue Flag. For those that don’t know, a blue flag is shown to slower drivers to indicate them to move off the racing line for faster drivers to overtake.

In F1 the blue flag is compulsory but in karting it isn’t.

What do you guys think?

We assume faster, more experienced drivers would want the blue flag to be used but what about the customers who are there just to have fun? Would this disrupt their experience…

Also, what should happen if someone is to ignore the flag? Should they get a penalty, though strictly speaking it isn’t compulsory.

We’re asking around a few forums and would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on the matter.

Except in F1 the blue flag does NOT instruct drivers to move off the racing line - it's just advisory.

Do you see yourselves as the first step on the ladder for drivers with ambitions to progress to higher levels - even, ultimately, F1? If so, the sooner they get used to the blue flag the better.

I am for the blue flag at least backmarkers who could be having a great battle amongst themselves are aware that faster karts will be coming past them

Yes I do believe when the blue flag was first introduced, it was never meant to mean 'get out of the way' just 'be aware of a faster car behind you.' Looking back at old F1 races seems further proof, as they used to show it even to cars on the same lap. IIRC stationary blue meant the faster car was behind you and waved meant trying to pass
