I believe there has been an issue in getting marshal info over to BRSCC as my bro & myself volunteered but it didn't get to them, lucky my bro chased tickets up on Monday and was told we we not listed down for it although I had a conformation email from Julian Floyd website back in Feb
if you haven't got tickets yet get in touch with BRSCC |

Glad I checked this. Just had the realisation i'd had nothing through! With any luck i'll be there, first time out in a long while, and first time marshaling both WEC and at Silverstone!

Usually one of my absolute favourite meetings of the year. Had to miss Fri+Sat last year so looking forward to the full experience again this time.

Really looking forward to this weekend. Last years event was only the second meeting I'd ever marshalled & I had an awesome time with the crews at Brooklands & Abbey pit lane exit. The racing was some of the best of last years WEC championship. Hoping this weekend we the right conditions another great couple of races.

Okay, I'll ask the important question:
Just who was driving the safety car that ended up in the gravel on Saturday morning? |

Apparently it was a great race. Unfortunately I didn't drop so lucky on posts, so from Wellington Straight I saw almost none of it. Ah, well, you win some and you lose some so no complaints there, just a shame since it's my favourite meeting.
FIA seemed to be more involved in the past so the amount of knobbery went up. Multiple boards for getting round the 'yellow flags are a waste of time' stuff - FCY, SC boards, slow zones, next slow zones (and the suicidal trackside indicators which seemed to have targets painted on them). Add in the big meeting security wombles who got in the way and frankly annoyed me on Sunday morning by being significantly unhelpful. (If you were held up a little on the car park to the wing, sorry, that was me blocking the car park because I wasn't there to park). And then Sunday seemed to have more than the usual faffing about. Hours between the two races and a lot of over-excited commentary on nothing happening ("the racing will be starting in HALF and HOUR, so CLEAR the GRID NOW!!!" - translation "NOTHING'S happening for AGES") was poor, and they didn't even manage to give out the grid in the 2 hours of nothing. And please, RLM, refer to the cars by numbers. Trying to follow the race in order to blue flag, they gave me lots of interesting information of who was in which car and what stage of their tyre/fuel/pit stop schedule they were on, without giving a number 99% of the time, so I had no idea which vehicle they were talking about. Too much waving going on to be able to read the programme and try to work it out. Even the hourly updates only mentioned the numbers of half the cars at best. So a bit of a disappointment in many ways, but it will still be the first tick next year. Those cars are awesome. |

I made a schoolboy error on Saturday and got far too cold, only realising after the ELMS race started that my biceps hurt - and I had done nothing to cause it, given that I had a line to look at and nothing else. Onset of hypothermia, which I stopped by wearing three coats and having a decent brew. First time in years I've let myself get that cold and tried to tough my way through it - thankfully the company on post and the chit-chat kept my head in the right place and stopped me from simply sitting down and getting even colder.
Sunday was a different story entirely. I got the partner post to Woolley, halfway down Hanger, so saw some very very very very fast cars (and some very slow ones) but not much in the way of racing. Thoroughly enjoyed the day though, despite having some long breaks. If the dates fit, it's in the calendar for 2017. |

The problem with 10 is, in my opinion, it's in the wrong place, you can't see what's coming and I'm doubtful they can see you too well. But then I think most of the posts on the new bit are in the wrong place. |

Completely agree about Post 10 - I've been on that for the Classic and British GT a few years back and it's one of the worst sited flag points I've come across. It exists basically because the bridge over Wellington straight means that post 9 can't see post 11. So far back from the circuit I'm pretty sure the drivers don't even know it's there.
As for the WEC weekend, I thoroughly enjoyed it, but the amount of dead time on Sunday morning was frustrating. I hadn't done an FIA meeting since WTCC at Brands some years ago, so had forgotten how much faffing about there is. Not enough to spoil it for me though, seeing those cars in full flight was a real treat. Back to reality this weekend with 750MC at Brands Hatch. |

I agree... and you are right .. I helped position it there because of the situation listed above.. Of course we could ask Silverstone to demolish the bridge..
