Isle of Man TT course

So Mark Higgins has thrown a Subaru Impreza round the TT course at nearly 130 mph average. It got me thinking; could a touring car (BTCC, WTCC or TCR) make it up and down the mountain, or are the roads too bumpy?

Oh, for a BTCC round there...

A touring car could make it around no problem, although obviously not as fast. The Subaru was essentially a circuit racer, albeit in Time Attack spec.

As for an BTCC round, not the slightest chance. Circuit is far too narrow and far too dangerous to allow for an actual side-by-side race. Even the bikes run in a one-at-a-time time trial format.

sceptic should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
The average length of a BTCC race is around 30 miles.
So if they used the TT course they wouldn't even complete 1 lap.

Make it a Targa-style event for GT3s, then.

The Argentine Turismo Carretera used to race at long, fast and narrow road courses circuits like this (it's what Carretera means). Each car started every 10 seconds or so.

I'd love to see Pikes Peak and Manx TT competitors to cross the Atlantic.
