Sturdgess F100 Group 6 - help required
Dear all
I recently purchased a Sturdgess F100 Group 6 with a Ford Kent 1600 and a 1300 spare engine. Seems to be one out of a total production of three cars. My car originally came from the UK and was run a few years in Germany before becoming part of a collection. I now purchase the car from the collection with the idea to race it at some historic events. I will try to add some pics here as well. Anyone familiar with this car? More details, pics or rankings from events where that car participated are highly appreciated. I will try to locate the chassis number, but could not find it for the time being. Hints again welcome! Thanks a lot and best regards Michael |

additional info
Dear all,
My major challenge is to get a FIA historic pass to run it at historic events in Switzerland. The idea is to use it for some track days, but mostly for historic events such as hillclimbs etc. in Switzerland where I need for some events the FIA pass. Therefore I was looking for some more specific information about my car, who owned it and where it was raced in the past... Any person I should contact, please send me a pm with the contact details. Thanks a lot Michael |

Are you sure it says that? I read it as saying that they were international meetings which is different. Surely the F100 series was a club series so unless one was homologated for an international race I would question if it is eligible.

I'm with Simon, I'd be amazed if the Sturgess ever raced 'Internationally'. They were only 1300 cc cars, so they'd have been woefully outpaced, and a danger too, if they'd ever run in World Champ or 2-Litre races in period.

FIA papers
Good morning all
Thanks a lot for your support so far! re. the FIA papers, I was told that I need to research the specific history of my car (my chassis number) and that I could not "replicate" or reuse the FIA papers from another car as it would not be confirmed that my car did participate in the same event as the donor car... is that correct and if so, who could help me here in the UK to research the specific history of my car? Best regards Michael |

As far as I'm aware, you should be able to get an HTP (Historic Technical Passport) as long as your car is the same type and to the same specification as the one which is known to have raced Internationally. The very expensive FIA "Heritage Certificate" is reserved for individual cars with a proven continuous history.

Sounds right to me. HTP confirms car is to correct spec. Not what it did in period. Just that costs enough!
Pretty car, what can it race in nowadays? |

Try contacting Keith Norris. He raced one in Libre and historics alongside his Formula 5000 Chevron B28 and knowing Keith and his brother, Gordon, they probably have lots of info.

Whether the events mentioned in the other car's papers really are international I have no idea (chances are the FIA won't either so if it was an international meeting that might be enough). Unfortunately the FIA don't seem to realise that there were plenty of important races (particularly those held on islands!) that weren't international. It is possible to get papers for cars that did not race internationally if you can show that it is historically significant - whatever that means. In the end you are dealing with people who don't appear to know the history and have been known to ask for things like period photos showing that an F3 car only had a single carburettor (as specified in the rules) or that the first car to win a GP with disc brakes actually ran disc brakes... Or look for the increasing number of events that don't ask for FIA papers (or those who only ask that you have applied for them...). |
